Committed to Christchurch
Our staff get involved in our community in many ways. We volunteer at free legal clinics run by Community Law Canterbury and the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, and serve on boards for schools, sports clubs, and other organisations around Christchurch.
As a firm, we provide free or discounted legal services to a variety of non-profit, cultural, and sporting organisations. We also provide more direct support through donations and fundraising.
Committed to the legal profession
We have a close association with the University of Canterbury College of Law, providing guest lecturing and moot judging.
We have a long history of service on a variety of New Zealand and Canterbury Law Society councils and committees, including the Canterbury Westland Branch Council of the Law Society, the Lawyers Standards Committee, and the Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal.
Our senior lawyers also assist as faculty members on the NZLS CLE litigation skills course.
Who we support
We are proud to support the Christchurch performing arts through our sponsorship of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and the Court Theatre.
We are always looking for opportunities to give back. In 2022, we decided to do away with the ordinary Christmas gifts. We now use the opportunity to support local charities. We look forward to continuing this tradition in years to come. In 2023, we supported the following organisations and more recently in 2024 the Special Children's Christmas Parties.
