The need to provide access to justice for all members of the community is a core principle for Young Hunter. To assist with this, Young Hunter is proud to be able to provide legal aid for eligible clients for most areas of family law.

Legal Aid is Government funding for legal assistance where a client cannot afford to pay privately. Eligibility for Legal Aid is based on a formula assessment which takes into account a combination of your income and assets. It is important to note that if you have a partner who lives with you, their income and assets also form part of the eligibility assessment. To assist you to determine whether you may be eligible for Legal Aid, please see the following link for income eligibility table provided by the Ministry of Justice Letter to CLC - CAB v4 .pdf (justice.govt.nz).

Generally, clients will be required to repay some or all of their grant of aid to the Ministry of Justice, however, this is assessed on a case by case basis and again is dependent on your income and assets. For more information on Legal Aid visit the Ministry of Justice website.
